MyMichigan Urgent Care Alpena Now Welcoming Walk-Ins and Book Ahead Appointments
Alpena, Mich. September 08, 2022 – Urgent Care Alpena has optimized workflows and staffing to better serve the community. As of September 12, the Urgent Care no longer requires patients to call ahead for an arrival time. Patients may walk in any time during business hours, or they may go online to select a specific appointment time and avoid the wait.
“As a safety precaution at the beginning of the pandemic, we were encouraging patients to call ahead for an arrival time to minimize the number of individuals in our waiting room,” explained Allison Modrzynski, practice manager. “That process became well ingrained in our community, but we want patients to know that we are ready and able to safely care for them on a first-come, first-served basis. Or, they may take advantage of our convenient online booking to further reduce their wait. We simply ask that patients who are experiencing COVID-like symptoms continue to call us from their vehicle when they arrive, so that we may safely take them into their exam room.”
To minimize the spread of infection, Urgent Care follows rigorous cleaning protocols, and all exam rooms are equipped with high capacity air scrubbers. All patients, visitors and staff are required to wear masks.
Modrzynski noted that during exceptionally busy times (if wait times exceed two hours) registered patients may be offered an estimated time to return to the facility, if they prefer to wait at home or attend to other business until it is time to be seen. Occupational health customers are still required to make an appointment through their employer.
The Urgent Care has also hired new providers to increase capacity.
“Our new team of providers is knocking it out of the park with efficiency and patient satisfaction,” said Modrzynski, citing the providers’ aggregate patient satisfaction score of 4.71 out of 5 stars, based on more than 130 verified patient ratings. “Patient reviews have been overwhelmingly positive.”
Urgent Care, located at 393 Long Rapids Road, is open Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., and weekends from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The health care team offers treatment for minor injury or illness including sprains, strains or possible broken bones; minor burns, rashes or insect bites; cold or flu symptoms including coughs, sore throats and earaches; and more.
