As a Management Services Officer, you will oversee and ensure the quality, function, safety, ambiance and cleanliness of our facility. This involves the direct supervision of the activities of the Sr. Custodian Supervisor, Administrative Assistant, Custodian Supervisors, Assistant Custodian Supervisors and custodian personnel. You will:

  • Interview, hire and ensure the exceptional performance of staff
  • Oversee training and competency assessment of custodial staff
  • Develop, implement and oversee quality improvement program
  • Model and hold staff accountable for a commitment to customer service
  • Assure that the medical center meets environmental and safety standards required by UCLA Policies and Procedures, TJC, DHS, NFPA, OSHPD and Cal/OSHA
  • Negotiate contracts and oversee the work of outside service vendors for grounds & landscaping, pest control, recycling, waste management and window washing
  • Protect patient/customer confidentialityActively collaborate with co-workers to improve systems, operations and outcomes

Qualifications

We’re seeking a self-motivated professional with:

  • A related Bachelor’s degree
  • Five years of experience managing operations and supervising maintenance personnel in a hospital environment, including the proven ability to manage and supervise a staff of 80+ housekeeping personnel
  • Proficiency in interviewing, hiring, evaluating and implementing progressive discipline
  • Knowledge of CDC guidelines, title 22, DHS and TJC regulatory requirements related to hazard, biohazard and solid waste as well as sanitation requirements for acute care facilities
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong background implementing and monitoring quality control programs
  • Excellent math skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively, proactively and cooperatively as a management team member in support of organizational goals and objectives
  • Working knowledge of regulatory agency requirements for acute care hospitals
